What is Deconstruction?
Deconstruction is the sustainable, smart, and often, cheaper alternative to traditional demolition!
Oftentimes, some barn owners find themselves overwhelmed with the effort and cost of keeping up a historical barn on their property. It may become a liability, safety hazard, or simply just doesn't serve the purpose the owner needs. That's where we come in. Deconstruction is a lot like construction- but backwards. We carefully remove each board, then process it to be reused. It's a LOT of hard work, but it's a labor of love! We get to learn all about the history and incredible feats that went into the building of each barn we deconstruct. Then we pass that history along to our clients! We love making ties to the community by forging meaningful relationships with each barn owner and every client, and have a great rate of repeat and consistent clients, coming back for more beautiful, sustainably sourced reclaimed barn wood!

These beautiful, Old-Growth CVG Douglas Fir Tongue and Groove 1x4's are incredibly dense and have loads of charm, with a 3 1/2" face width, and a full 3/4" thickness. It's dancing, mostly clear vertical grain and perfectly preserved and aged colorful golden grain patterns have a rustic, classy look that would add a gorgeous touch to any room in your home or business.
Our current large stock of this in-demand material, an absolute favorite of many of our clients, is salvaged from the deconstruction of the last standing building of Avon elementary School in Mount Vernon, which was a large barn that was a basketball court gymnasium. Truly, the quality of this batch is the best we have ever seen!
The old-growth boards have a strength and density that is unmatched in today's lumber, averaging 30-45 rings/inch, with a weight you can feel. The result is a high-quality wood product with such incredible durability and unbeatable versatility, it can fit into nearly any application in your design!
In lengths from 2' to 16'+, great care is taken to preserve every inch of the board when pulling, then it is carefully cleaned, de-nailed, and inspected for defects, with damages cut out, ends cut square, and lightly pressure-washed. About half of the stock we have left has paint on one side, which we are happy to plane off for you at your request.
We are currently accepting orders, with about 2500 square feet left available, and we custom pull every order to our clients' requests, ensuring that we provide them with the highest quality material they could possibly get! Our many happy clients have turned out some of the most INCREDIBLE projects with these exact boards!
